Stardew Valley coming to mobile

Hello everyone,

I hope you’ve all had a great summer and are enjoying this transition to the cooler weather of fall.

Today, I’ve got some exciting news to share with everyone – Stardew Valley is coming to mobile, and it’s actually releasing on the iOS App Store in just over 2 weeks time, on October 24th!

The mobile port is being developed by London-based mobile development studio, The Secret Police, who have been working with me for about a year. Chucklefish has been handling the business and marketing side of things. While the game will launch first on the iOS App Store, The Secret Police are currently working on finishing up the Android version, and I hope to give you more news about an exact launch date soon.

  • Supports iPhone and iPad gaming, just make sure to check on the App Store page whether the game is compatible with your iOS version
  • It’s the full game, not a cut down version, and plays almost identically to all other versions. The main difference is that it has been rebuilt for touch-screen gameplay on iOS (new UI, menu systems and controls)
  • £7.99 / $7.99 / 8,99 € with no in-app purchases
  • Includes 1.3 single player content, such as the Night Market, but not Multiplayer
  • PC players can transfer their save data to the iOS version via iTunes – but make sure to always back up your save data first! Mods are not supported, and any save data transferred containing mods may cause compatibility issues.

Pre-orders are available today

I want to be sure it is clear that the development of the mobile port has had no impact on the development of the console Multiplayer ports, as they are being worked on by two entirely separate teams/companies. Console multiplayer is making great progress and I have every intention to release it as quickly as possible. For a quick update on where it’s at, the Switch Multiplayer update is coming along well, and has now gone into QA (quality assurance testing). Xbox One and PS4 Multiplayer updates will follow (all being done by Sickhead Games). I promise to keep you all updated on any news I get regarding release time frames for all the consoles. I really appreciate everyone’s patience.

That’s all for now!

  • amoral familism

This is just best videogames-related news i read in year or two. Thanks a lot!

  • Cody Bury

Any planned game-pad support for these mobile versions or is it purely touch controlled?

  • Danno

Will the mobile version eventually have multiplayer?

    • Kimberly Davila

It does say it will not be in the game, but I do get your message. And I’m also have a prediction that someday it will get multiplayer soon. So, let’s hope for the best in the future.

      • Psy Pig

There may be a multiplayer update for local players

        • Kimberly Davila

One person did ask him when it will EVER come. He did say that they’re looking into it and will hopefully bring multiplayer to mobile after the android release (which might be a long time).

          • They can be placed outside, but only work in the cellar

  • elizabeth

    This is excellent news.
Also: Anyone else bothered by the fact that the first image shows a cask outside? Unless… can I put casks outside now?

    • A_racham

They can be placed outside, but only work in the cellar

    • I see no casks. Only the jars and barrel. But as the other there said, you can place them outside, they just don’t do anything.

  • Calvin H.

Will ps vita get the v.1.3 content? (Without Multiplayer, of course).

    • Henry Sullivan

i dont think there is enuf people playing on vita to make it worth wile especial when they are working on widely adopted consoles currently.

  • A_racham

Stated in this post by CA:

“The Secret Police are currently working on finishing up the Android version, and I hope to give you more news about an exact launch date soon.”

  • Chichi 4L

I plan to play with a JXD Android tablet/gamepad, so I hope there is gamepad support.

  • TheRaven81

Does this mean there’s hope for 3DS too now?

    • Leah Bahr

Why would they when it’s on the Switch? I know the 3DS would be awesome but I don’t see it.

      • Wyatt bob

Ape has shown us anything is possible! Don’t underestimate him. 😀

      • MMD

Minecraft was everywhere and then they decided to go to 3DS. It would be amazing there.

      • TheRaven81

The 3DS runs on an ARM processor, like most mobile devices do – your phone, tablet device, etc., all run on one. Very few mobile devices run on x86 processors. Developing for mobile also means adding touchscreen control. So this could very well assist in developing for 3DS.

  • GreatWizard

Hey – please expose the save folder to the “files” app. It’s literally adding 1 string to the info.plist file, especially if you already support iTunes sync, so I assume the app’s document folder is clean and has only save data etc, and not some cache stuff that might confuse users. (iOS dev here)

    • GreatWizard

btw the key I was talking about is LSSupportsOpeningDocumentsInPlace. Just add it to the info.plist and it will make save sharing a lot more convenient.

when can we get chinese version on ios?

  • REALITYCheque

I will pay nearly any amount if the android version has controller support.

Please, please, please consider adding it.

And also: thanks for making this on mobile, I’ve hoped for it since I first bought the game on PC back at launch.

    • Wyatt bob

      I second this idea!

  • Anfronie

Glad to see it is coming to Android!!!!!!!!

  • Alex Gildert
  • Amzf

What about saving or stopping play in the middle of an ingame day?

  • amoral familism

Later and badly version as usual. Android devices is not for gaming btw.

    • Doby Gillis

You’ve obviously never used one, you ignorant git.

    • Wyatt bob

Why the fuck do Apple users think they are so elite? All modern-day phones are almost identical and have small to no hardware gaps. Yet Apple has this huge bandwagon appeal, yet all that’s different is the U.I.

      • SpaceM4gee

Probably a troll. Or an ignorant fanboy. I think apple has its upsides but I support android much more for the freedom and customization. Also apple has a cult following that supports a name over product

        • Eric

I have both a pixel 3 and Iphone X. Someone sounds mad it’s not releasing on Android First, not you SpaceM4gee

  • TheMysteriousFox

Holy cow, a mobile version!? I did NOT see that coming. And you can use your PC save too?!? How do you put your PC save on a mobile device through iTunes?

    • supra

      c l o u d solution allows you to do that

    • Henry Sullivan

https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cc5a00d30b829f02850bc6dc1c9b386cfc31877038de9b1b023071e3e5c152f2.png in short plug in your phone. open iTunes go to file sharing and pick the stardew valley app from the list then press add file the copy the save file to the phone.

(sorry if i am wrong, because i am just guessing but i am probably write.)

      • TheMysteriousFox

I didn’t even know that was a thing! Thank you for sharing

    • Keenan Krum

It’s also been on the PS Vita for a while now, long before the switch. Just think, if more people had payed attention to the Vita, yall would know it has been mobile for quite some time.

  • Leah Bahr

Will android allow you to transfer your games? Also, this is unexpectedly awesome!

    • Wyatt bob

You can transfer your saves in different more complicated means (Pastebin, Etc) but it will be more streamlined for IOS users.

  • Yuna Marie (Bubbles_the_destro
    • travisboone

did you even read the post?

“The Secret Police are currently working on finishing up the Android version, and I hope to give you more news about an exact launch date soon.”

      • Yuna Marie (Bubbles_the_destro

All I saw was the iOS coming the 24th I didn’t see android when it comes out

  • Alexander Hoffmann

I thought about getting the Switch version to play on the go but I don’t want to start over again after having played it on the PC. Now I’ll wait for the android version 😀

  • Robbie Baquiran

I second the controller support!! Please port that over to both iOS and Android. Touch screen is great, but sometimes its nice to have the option of setting the tablet down. The 12.9″ iPad Pro will break my arms if I play as long on it as I did the PC version!

  • Christian Beach

Well this is certainly a surprise.

I’m also really glad the Switch multiplayer is coming along well. That’s the version I have, and I’ve been trying to get my brother to get the game on his Switch so we can play together when multiplayer comes out on it.

  • Marco Mogliani

Sorry if I ask this again, but will the Switch multiplayer version be couch-coop on a single device (split screen-like) or it requires two consoles?

    • MMD

It is online multiplayer only, so it requires 2 copies of the game and 2 Switches.

  • Aaron

When is going to be for android?

    • Wyatt bob

It does not have a confirmed release date yet. And as an android user, I hope it comes sooner than later.

  • Rohan Nagpal

what about multiplayer for mobile(iOS) ?

    • Wyatt bob

Multiplayer won’t exist (as of now) for mobile on both platforms.

  • Lovely313

Will multiplayer mode ever happened on mobile?

  • Oxygen X

Will the mobile version eventually support mods later?

    • Henry Sullivan

probaly not becase a user would have to make the mods and ios doesn’t love extra plugins like a mod loader. I might be missgudging this but i see this more of a on the go game as an extention to the pc game rather that a standalone game.

      • GreatWizard

civ6 supports mods, that can be copied via iTunes. As long as the mods are not trying to modify to executable, but use in-game systems, it can work. (don’t know if Stardew enables this, since I didn’t play much on the PC)

  • – James –

so what will the requirements for running it be for both android and ios? im not asking for the exact ones but what i should expect

    • Wyatt bob

As long as your phone allows you to download Stardew Valley I wouldn’t worry because its a fairly easy game to run.

  • Wyatt bob

  • Oxygen X

Will the mobile version ever support mods?

    • SpaceM4gee

Probably, smapi is the one you should be asking

      • Oxygen X

        Who is Smapi?

        • SpaceM4gee

Smapi, or more correctly SMAPI, is the modding software used on pc.

    • Henry Sullivan

i think that yes SMAPI is who to ask and also i feel that consoles would get it first

      • Oxygen X

Probably, but i just want that mobile version will get it too soon

  • Freex

    In French ?

  • Conker923four

will the android version support the use of controllers connected via Bluetooth?

  • Kid Shamrock

Will the console port support voice chat? Too much trouble to chat with controller…

    • Henry Sullivan

Doesn’t Xbox and ps4 have voice chat built in with party’s

  • iranmun

How long will it take to wait for the Stardew valley on andrid? One month, year?

  • FahhRhie Hussen S

will in mod support mods soon?

  • dtfyg

is this only for ios? or android too?

    • MMD

“The mobile port is being developed by London-based mobile development

  • Chance Treadwell

Will save files be transferable from mobile back to PC as well, letting me take my pc save file, play a few days on mobile, and then back to PC with the progress made on mobile?

  • l3aronsansgland

Is the iCloud sync planned in a further release ?

  • Ari Gee

What about Cloud-Sync? Without this feature I don’t want start to play.

  • PaweÅ‚ Ciszewski

    Any updates on Android version?

    • Josh Rain

Nothing new, we have a long wait to endure.

      • Paweł Ciszewski

        Any hearback?

  • Pslyse

    Any plans for Android?

    • Josh Rain

We have a long wait my friend, unfortunately, whenever games get portef to iOS first, it usually takes a full year for Android to get it next.

      • Pslyse

  • Nick

I pre-purchased the game from the iOS app store and now after the release date the game will not download from the app store. I have contacted Apple and they claim there is no issue on their end with the account. A purchase ID was generated, money was deducted from my account, etc. They told me to contact the developer. All I want to do is play! Can you help me?

  • Anti-troll

Not to be the millionth jerk to ask…but….when is V1.3 coming to switch? I get that mobile is cool….but I’m itching to get the new features on the switch.

  • Josh Rain

  • KiraHeart

Still waiting for the Android version.

  • Neck Flix

Still no news for Android? D:

  • tony

    Android plzzzz

  • not to be *that guy* but what happened to 1.3 comming to the switch before the others and this mobile port? didnt you guys actually have some sort of deal w/ the Big N about that? its been over a month, Any word on it? given it could take Months before it gets the ok or unfortunately rejected, it took like what i think 3~4 months before the better together update for Minecraft Bedrock to hit the switch? Switch owners just want an update because that means once its done you can sooner get to work for the other platforms just as well.

    • Flyron

Wasn’t that deal explicitly about multiplayer, which the iOS version is still missing?

  • Christine

This was the best Birthday present EVER!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Faris Ar Rasyid

the map is not big enough and animals, vehicles and buildings are still lacking.

can still join not to the stardew valley manufacturing site 🙂
I want to be able to learn more about what the programmer’s tasks are until becoming a standard valley game, maybe after that I can also help to update Stradew Valley games 🙂

  • Escher

So can you play multiplayer cross-platform? Such as PC with ios mobile?

  • Nathan

I’m not sure of the marketing used for games like this. Android users make up about 80% of the mobile market. Are more Apple users playing games on their devices than Android users causing publishers to release for iOS first or ignore android altogether? 98% of mobile games are bad games designed for teenagers. It’s a shame android users have to wait when one as good as stardew valley does roll around.

    • Brazinger

Android users tend to prefer freemium games and hate when a game is paid. iOS users tend to spend more, and also buy paid games a lot more. On avg a game on both platforms means it earns considerably more money on iOS (this is the case for both freemium and paid games).

  • Anonimo

multiplayer in mobile, please, will be the best game ever with multiplayer in mobile

  • GodZ

Hey admin, can u update co-op on ios/android? Pls..
